Volunteering with a willing heart

  • May 20, 2019October 18, 2020
  • by Nicole Bailey

Our Singapore team spent the day in April volunteering their time to help a very worthy cause, Willing Heart. Willing Hearts is a non-profit organisation based in Singapore since 2005. It operates a Soup Kitchen that prepares cooks and distributes about 5000 daily meals to over 40 locations, 365 days a year.

Willing Hearts has a simple life philosophy:

“Come with a warm smile, Two helping hands (so leave at home your pair of left hands! Otherwise you might get hurt) and bring the most important ingredient :

Your Open and Willing Heart”

Hatice Cice from our Singapore team mentioned;

“Willing Hearts is a welcoming place where volunteers, with a common goal, participate to bring joy and happiness to someone in need. Chopping vegetables and preparing meals reminds you how your heart is, somehow, eager to be a part of a whole common purpose. Helping and volunteering are just a way to express your empathy and the true nature of your humanity.”

The Singpoare team along with ServiceNow team committed to preparing and distributing meals, together and as a team created a positive and cheerful environment while serving others.

Workflow design, modularization, and troubleshooting

  • May 16, 2019May 27, 2019

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, except when our Enable Teammates present a packed session on a hot topic, Workflow design.

Jake Gillespie, Enables own Technical Lead Consultant, and Subhash Uniyal, Senior Technical Consultant presented a workshop to a full room about workflows, specifically a session called “Workflow design, modularization, and troubleshooting”.

Workflows are a sequence of activities which are executed automatically by ServiceNow’s Workflow engine. Some activities require user input such as approvals or tasks, while others are automated, such as If/Switch branches, Get/Set Values, and even some external integration calls.

Workflows are processed by the Workflow Engine, which executes on the Server-side of ServiceNow, in the Application Server.  Jake and Subhash presented general design principals, best practice and a bunch of examples for developers to learn from.

After much anticipation and planning Enable Professional Services, with a contingent of almost 40 staff, headed off to Las Vegas for a 4-day convention.

Knowledge promised an event where extraordinary people could come together and take work to the next level. Knowledge was a place to learn how people like us are delivering modern digital workflows that unlock productivity and transform the employee and customer experience.

Win a trip to Las Vegas competition winners Terence Yeo from Singapore and Amanda Morrison from Australia enjoyed the 4 days in Vegas sightseeing and involving themselves in sessions.

Our sister company, Enable Labs, prepared a booth in the Expo Now arena to promote their award-winning apps available for sale on the ServiceNow store. This booth was the base for our travelling team, who enjoyed opening parties, keynotes, training sessions, participating in the Hackathon, wandering the ExpoNow, attending workshops, and even hosted their own workshops.
