All you should know about TLS 1.2 and ServiceNow

  • November 27, 2019November 28, 2019
  • by Bharat Rajora

All you should know about TLS 1.2 and how ServiceNow is moving to it.

Web encryption is changing, and so is the ServiceNow security best practice around privacy and data integrity.

Now in Oct 2019, ServiceNow has also decided to retire1.0 and 1.1 and intends to move all its customers to TLS 1.2. This article will enable you to understand all about TLS and upcoming changes, which may impact integrations.

  • Wondering what TLS is?

“Transport Layer Security” is the protocol that allows the handshake of your laptops/smartphones and then to communicate your sensitive information securely over the internet.

  • How ServiceNow use TLS?

Anytime users/customers try to access ServiceNow from devices within seconds, this is what is happening to establish a secure session between users and ServiceNow Instance. For example, below lock sign in the URL confirms that the secure session has been established securely between customer and ServiceNow instance.

  • What if I change the SSL certificate and not worry about the ServiceNow TLS change?

Certificate & Protocols are two different things, and Certificates are not dependent on protocols. SSL certificate only handles incoming traffic to the server and will not protect any calls that the server may make to other services.

  • What is the impact? If I don’t upgrade my integrations?

Any legacy services that currently rely on TLS 1.1 or older versions will no longer be available. If there are custom legacy integrations or customer is using an old browser, then there is a significant impact.

  • Finally, how do I prepare myself for this change

ServiceNow (Global Technical Support group) is contacting its customers that are using TLS1.0 or 1.1 and letting them aware of the change. Also, ServiceNow has published the Knowledge article: KB0746078

Enable Professional Services cracks 10th in CRN Fast50

  • November 25, 2019November 27, 2019
  • by Nicole Bailey

If there was any doubt that IT service management was a profitable endeavour, Sydney-born Enable Professional Services put the argument to rest by returning to upper reaches of the CRN Fast50 for 2019.

The ServiceNow partner saw almost 80 percent revenue growth over the past year to land in tenth place, helped by solid contract wins from government and telecommunications clients.

Notable wins included deals with the New South Wales and Victorian state governments, which have invested more in digital transformation initiatives and public services.

In the private sector, telcos continue to be a boon for the company, which has balanced positive growth and building for the future.

“We’ve continued to invest in the business here in Australia as well as our overseas ventures, particularly with our new products and offerings,”

chief executive Bruce Hara told CRN.

“We’ve had really consistent growth, both within our loyal customer base and with many new quite large enterprise and sizable government customer wins as well.”

Enable has also increased its headcount over the past year. The company now employs close to 200 staff in Australia, in addition to those that work from its overseas offices.

The company has 11 offices across Australia, Singapore, India, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Speaking to CRN, Hara highlighted two major recent hires; Suzanne Gerrard as general manager and Paul Thomason as director of innovation.

“Being recognised by CRN as one of the fastest growing IT businesses in Australia for a third consecutive year is significant validation internally that we’re doing the right things and achieving success,”

Hara said.

“It shows we’re a sustainable organisation, that we’re in it for the long term and that we’re continually reinvesting to improve on our services and offerings to give customers better experiences.”

Hara founded Enable in 2014, with the aim of bringing the same functionality that technology has delivered to people’s personal lives into the workplace through solutions for IT, HR and legal systems.

The company has worked closely with ServiceNow since its early days.

Enable has also developed its own software implementation method (EnableUNow), industry-specific applications (through Enable Labs), and an education division providing accredited ServiceNow training (Enable Learn).

“The CRN Fast50 is above all a chance for the channel to mingle and learn from each other’s experiences. On the night we immediately started to hear conversations suggesting new collaborations and combinations. And that’s why the CRN Fast50 really matters, because bringing people together is an essential function of the channel. We’re proud to play a small role in helping those meetings and collaborations to happen.”

Enable Adelaide volunteer at RSPCA

  • November 21, 2019
  • by Nicole Bailey

On the 15th Nov 2019, our Enablers in Adelaide spent 4 hours volunteering at the RSCPA shelter in Lonsdale.

The RSPCA shelters provide a loving and caring temporary home for vulnerable animals.

They have three shelters across South Australia – at Lonsdale, Port Lincoln and Whyalla –  who care for thousands of injured, neglected, sick, surrendered and unwanted animals each year. The shelters are a haven for animals that have been abandoned, lost, surrendered or have been victims of cruelty or neglect. All RSPCA South Australia shelters promote, support and facilitate animal adoptions.

Enable donated $500 and spent the time assisting with charitable activity impacting their local community. Our team members Bhavisha Keshwala, Rajat Agarwal, Paul Austin and Nikhil Bhalla spent the time in the warehouse sorting and folding the donated blankets and towel, playing with animals and cuddling the friendly dogs.

Bhavisha, who arranged the activity mentioned:

“It was an awesome event we went to RSPCA shelter home , we saw how they are managing everything there. The team there is dedicatedly doing everything.

They have some volunteer programs too and I am planning to be the part of that program… Also after visiting the shelter home I am planning to adopt a rabbit and a puppy ?

Our ServiceNow architect Paul Austin almost adopted a dog on the day.

In 2019, ServiceNow leads the work of work with innovative ways to get work done.

The ServiceNow team promised to bring together extraordinary people focused on transforming the world of work. With attendees learning how people like themselves are delivering modern digital workflows that unlock productivity and transform the employee and customer experience.

Now at Work Sydney – What’s new and what’s next in the world of work

ServiceNow helps comapnies deliver great employee and customer experiences. Now at Work was the place to learn, connect and get inspired to deliver on those experiences. The event was a mix of customer, partner stories and experts from ServiceNow all giving insights on how to run a company with efficiency and heart.

Increased demands for efficiency and productivity – ServiceNow showed us how to combine both in a workplace where employees feel good, comfortable, developed and stimulated.

Hosted at the ICC Exhibition Centre in the stunning Darling Harbour, the event was geared up to be the biggest event in the  Australia Pacific calendar, and it delivered on that promise.

In Sydney, the Enable team came in full force with a contingent of more than 30 Enablers networking, presenting, conducting demos, learning and generally having a blast.

We have 6 well-attended presentation sessions hosted at our Diamond Sponsor booth covering such things as ‘New York Release – all the features you wanted and more’ and  ‘The Enable Way – expert ServiceNow Project Delivery Methodology’. We also provided a very exciting demo of Enable Labs award-winning application Toolbox and we were excited to co-present with our amazing customers Optus, iCare and Dreamworld.

We were a very proud Diamond Sponsor of the event and had a wonderful time meeting with the rest of the ServiceNow community.

Suzanne Gerrard, Enable General Manager for Australia,  mentioned  “The event was a huge success for Enable and ServiceNow. With over 2200 attendees it was a great opportunity to connect with our customers and to gain invaluable insights into the future of the platform. It was great to hear firsthand the customer success stories from organisations who have transformed their business through the adoption of the ServiceNow platform.”
