Enable introduces Work from Anywhere & Extended Leave Policy

  • December 16, 2021December 16, 2021
  • by Rachel Sparkes

Being able to work from anywhere in the world or take an extended break without giving up your job is a dream of many Enablers. From today, it is a real possibility for every one of our people.

We’re proud to announce our Work from Anywhere & Extended Leave Policy to help Enablers do their best work from anywhere.

Here’s what our new Policy includes

Extended travel – if an Enabler has family in other states or overseas, we understand that they may want to travel when borders re-open. So, we’re happy to talk about:

  • extended travel dates;
  • options to work from another Enable location; and
  • how to use a mix of annual leave and capped unpaid leave.

Extended break – if an Enabler needs an extended break, they may want to take sabbatical leave. Perhaps take time for travel or just some downtime. We can offer up to 8 weeks of unpaid leave, which can be mixed with paid annual leave (but not sick leave or carer’s leave).

Work from anywhere – if an Enabler would like to try working in another location, we’re getting ready to make it easier. For a block of up to 8 weeks a year, our people can choose to work from another Enable office or somewhere of their choice. They just need to be available for meetings, and to work hours appropriate to project/client time zones.

Note: this new policy is distinct from our company-sponsored visa relocation programs, all of which remain unchanged.

We created this policy to give Enablers flexibility

Many Enablers haven’t seen their family or friends in two very long years. Plus, working through a global pandemic has been tough on all our people, taking a toll on their mental health and wellbeing.

Now more than ever, we understand that Enablers deserve to work in an environment that gives them the flexibility to enjoy life outside of work. But our previous leave policy didn’t allow people to take the time they really need to visit family or unplug while still having a job to come back to.

So, as borders started opening and a new year approached, we asked Enablers what would help and how we could accommodate different needs. Updating our leave policy was the answer to our questions.

Enable is normalising working from anywhere

While work-from-anywhere policies are slowly becoming the norm in the technology industry, we’re proud to be an early adopter.

We also believe our new policy is unique in having no borders – Enablers will be able to work from anywhere, with no restrictions on location.

The policy is one of our many ways of looking after our people’s mental health and wellbeing, building a more inclusive work culture, and retaining our best talent.

“By introducing this policy, we hope our Enablers will continue to feel valued as humans. These policies are a testament to who we are as an organisation and the people-first culture and environment that we continue to build.”

– Rachel Sparkes, Head of People & Culture at Enable

Enablers have given the policy a thumbs up

Having consulted our Enablers about the new policy, we’re proud to say that we’ve had overwhelmingly positive feedback:

  • “It’s really nice to hear we are talking about these topics; when I connect with my friends in the industry these are the two key questions candidates are asking – flexibility to work from home and the ability to go home to see loved ones. I’m impressed we are talking about these topics.” – Anonymous
  • “I’m speaking on the behalf of the majority of people – the flexibility to work from whatever state or city is fantastic. It sends the message that the company trusts us to still be great in delivering what we can from anywhere.” – Anonymous
  • “[This policy will] extend our empathy and support – we’re all going through tough times.” – Anonymous
  • “I think we’ve done some fantastic work this year despite the restrictions and pandemics. A lot of people have been given the opportunity to step up and learn. This is why I love working here, there’s no shortage of opportunities and learning.” – Anonymous
  • “Our commitment to listening to what’s not working and change/improve/pivot fast to a better solution is one of the best parts of this company.” – Anonymous

We also recently received an 86% employee engagement score in our latest employee engagement survey, indicating Enablers are extremely engaged and passionate about their work!

Embark on an adventure with Enable

We’re excited to see how our Enablers will use this new policy, and we’ll continue to listen to feedback.

How Enable is winning the race for the best…

  • August 19, 2021August 23, 2021
  • by Rachel Sparkes

One hundred. That’s how many new team members we welcomed to Enable in the last six months. Our team now stands at more than 260 – and fast approaching 300 staff.

It’s not a coincidence. We make attracting talent a top priority.

Tying down great talent has always been something of a competitive sport. And it has only intensified as the way we all work has started to change, and as employees put more of a lens on the advantages a potential workplace can provide.

To hire the right people, we believe we must always be looking; inviting them in when they come our way. But we must also give them a reason to stay. Amazing employees are built and supported by nurturing workplaces.

At Enable, our core values are Passionate, Pragmatic, Committed and United. Not just for our clients, but also for our internal team. From the first day, new Enable team members are provided initial development, training, and support, and ongoing professional development opportunities. We don’t just talk about it – we’re really making it happen.

12 week accelerated ServiceNow learning program launched for Enable Associates.

All new Enable associates take part in a 12-week on-boarding program. It’s designed to be a fun, intensive and experience-rich program that gives new starters the tools and capabilities they need to thrive as ServiceNow consultants. The program consists of:

  • 60% on-the-job training
  • Guidance from Enable’s best consultants
  • Facing new tasks and challenges
  • Workshops on the ServiceNow platform (including managing stakeholders, planning demos and much more)
  • Regular assessment and feedback (including presentations, conducting workshops, feedback forums and more)

Celebrating excellence

We are excited to share the opening of our new Centre of Excellence (COE) in Manila, Philippines. Joining the novel Centre of Excellence in India, these centres were founded in line with Enable’s vision to create further opportunities for our teams and customers to do things they’ve never done before. The COE team has grown quickly, expanding to 25 experienced ServiceNow consultants in just a few months.

Our new Enablers in the region share that they have joined Enable to further build on their expertise in the platform and gain solid experience in domains beyond IT, with the COE’s supporting them to meet these goals.

A global team

The Enable team of ServiceNow Consultants hails from all over APAC – from Australia to India, the Philippines, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Despite the world being so separated recently, our global team has thrived.

We prioritise team building and culture through multiple channels. From holding monthly townhalls to celebrate each other’s success, to dedicated group chats for support from 250+ consultants, to encouraging an open mentoring culture to share our knowledge with each other. While we may have been isolated due to the pandemic, our people first culture brings us back together to feel we are always one team working toward a common goal.

A career, not a job

Helping clients on their ServiceNow journey is only one part of being an Enabler. The other part is continuously growing and getting better at what you do. It makes us a better team – and better performers.

It’s no accident Enable is currently the most qualified, certified, and capable ServiceNow partner in the APJ region, (and winner of two 2021 APJ Partner Awards). Or the winner of the Employee of Choice Awards in 2020.

Our vision is to provide opportunities for our clients and our team to do things they have never done before, and the way we hire, develop, uplift and manage our talent always reflects this goal. We’re continuously looking to grow our teams further. Because as market opportunity grows, so does Enable.

Celebrating Women in Tech

  • March 4, 2021March 4, 2021
  • by Rachel Sparkes

Today is International Women’s Day. A day to celebrate women and note the progress we have taken in the technology industry.

The technology industry still has a way to go toward equality – particularly for women in leadership.

According to the ABS in 2020, the technology industry in Australia has 26% female participation which is lower than the 47% of female representation in the workforce in general.

A recent study in 2020 showed that Silicon Valley senior leadership roles were only held by 5% of women.

TOP BARRIERS:

According to the International Women’s Development Agency, there are four top barriers women face to enter leadership:

  • Conservative beliefs around womens roles
  • The threat of physical and sexual violence
  • Structural inequality
  • Lack of funding for women-led organisations

At Enable we are challenging the barriers and beliefs for female participation in technology roles and leadership in technology.

We are proud to have the following workforce:

  • 27% of females in technical roles
  • 50% of females in our most senior leadership roles in Australia

These senior female leaders represent diverse groups such as single mothers and women of colour, leading to inclusive perspectives, processes and policies at the very top of our organisation.

HOW ARE WE CREATING CHANGE:

At Enable, we know that women are more likely to ‘self-select’ out of leadership development programs and promotions at higher rates than their male colleagues in the middle layers of their careers.

Therefore, our leadership structures, succession planning and promotion processes are designed to remove these barriers for our future female leaders as they progress in their careers.

So how do we stack up against the tech giants of the world? Consider Microsoft: In October 2018, the company reported that women comprise 29.1 % of its workforce, but only 16.6% work in technical positions and just 23% hold leadership roles. Twitter said women fill 10 % of its technical jobs, with 21% percent in leadership. And women “Googlers” account for 17% of the search giant’s tech jobs, while only 21% manage others.

According to Forbes magazine, women influencing product development and business strategy — the two rungs at the top of the industry’s corporate ladder – is good for business. Studies show that companies with different points of view, insights and approaches to problem-solving have higher sales, more customers and larger market share than their less-diverse rivals.

At Enable, we strive to be a people-first business, and we know diversity and equality is good for business and good for each individual.

We are pleased to have a strong representation of female senior leaders and will continue to have programs to attract more females into our technical roles and to all leadership levels in our business to continue to create our competitive edge and opportunities for all.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

  • March 6, 2019March 7, 2019
  • by Rachel Sparkes

At our January 2019 leadership offsite I was pleased to look around the room and notice the excitement, passion and commitment displayed by the leaders at our fast growing ServiceNow consultancy.

Another thing was very exciting. The number of female senior leaders in the room.

In our executive leadership team, we have a female GM of Australia, female Global Head of People & Culture, female Director of India, and a female Global Head of Delivery. Our ELT has 50% female representation.

Overall our company employs 17% female technical staff, and we are actively identifying and training the next generation of female leaders.

So how do we stack up against the tech giants of the world? Consider Microsoft: In October 2018, the company reported that women comprise 29.1 percent of its workforce, but only 16.6 percent work in technical positions and just 23 percent hold leadership roles. We are pleased to have a strong representation of female senior leaders and will continue to have programs to attract more females into our technical roles and to all leadership levels in our business to continue to create our competitive edge and opportunities for all.
