Christmas Giving with Enable

  • December 19, 2019December 19, 2019
  • by Nicole Bailey

When we formalised our partnership with The Smith Family in Q1 of this year, locking in the sponsorship of 80 primary school kids, I have to confess, it felt pretty good.  I knew then that we would be making a huge difference to the lives of these underprivileged children and their families, breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

What I did not know then, was the chain reaction of great things that would be set off by going through this process.

The Smith Family partnership became the foundation of our greater Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.  Once this primary partnership was locked in, we then set about engaging a team of like-minded Enablers to meet regularly and coordinate CSR activities for every office in our organisation, with the aim of creating a culture of being connected not just to each other, but to our communities as well.  Through our CSR program, I’m proud to say we don’t just talk about CSR, we show up!

In the last 9 months alone, whilst growing our business and looking after our customers, Enablers have also been:

  • Walking for RSPCA in Adelaide,
  • Running for The Smith Family in the Blackmores Running Festival in Sydney
  • Preparing meals in the FoodBank kitchen in Brisbane
  • Kickboxing for underprivileged kids in Hong Kong
  • Growing a beard for BeyondBlue in Perth
  • Preparing meals in the Willing Hearts Soup Kitchen in Singpaore
  • And filling 18 shifts in The Smith Family’s Christmas Appeal across Australia

Seeing the photos of our amazing people out in their community making a real difference to the world around them is something that makes me so proud to be an Enabler, and a CSR Champion.  On behalf of Enable’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee – Merry Christmas!

Enable Adelaide volunteer at RSPCA

  • November 21, 2019
  • by Nicole Bailey

On the 15th Nov 2019, our Enablers in Adelaide spent 4 hours volunteering at the RSCPA shelter in Lonsdale.

The RSPCA shelters provide a loving and caring temporary home for vulnerable animals.

They have three shelters across South Australia – at Lonsdale, Port Lincoln and Whyalla –  who care for thousands of injured, neglected, sick, surrendered and unwanted animals each year. The shelters are a haven for animals that have been abandoned, lost, surrendered or have been victims of cruelty or neglect. All RSPCA South Australia shelters promote, support and facilitate animal adoptions.

Enable donated $500 and spent the time assisting with charitable activity impacting their local community. Our team members Bhavisha Keshwala, Rajat Agarwal, Paul Austin and Nikhil Bhalla spent the time in the warehouse sorting and folding the donated blankets and towel, playing with animals and cuddling the friendly dogs.

Bhavisha, who arranged the activity mentioned:

“It was an awesome event we went to RSPCA shelter home , we saw how they are managing everything there. The team there is dedicatedly doing everything.

They have some volunteer programs too and I am planning to be the part of that program… Also after visiting the shelter home I am planning to adopt a rabbit and a puppy ?

Our ServiceNow architect Paul Austin almost adopted a dog on the day.

Perth Running Festival and the Smith Family

  • October 10, 2019October 14, 2019
  • by Nicole Bailey
Our Enable Professional Services Perth team completed this year Perth Running Festival on Sunday 6th October.

Right now, in labs in Perth, hundreds of scientists are working towards the next medical breakthrough.

Supporting this event allows the Harry Perkins Foundation to plan for big goals, like making cancer non-lethal, discovering disease genes that give families answers they so desperately need and finding treatments for heart disease. It supports brilliant minds at work with the best interests of your family and loved ones at heart. And provides researchers with stability and security so that they can focus solely on lifesaving research.

The breakthroughs Perkins researchers are making in the labs will lead to potential cures. Without research, there are no new treatments, no advances in medicine, no chance of finding that one thing that will stop a disease in its tracks.
Enable, through it’s Corporate & Social Responsibility program, raised some much-needed funds for the Harry Perkins Foundation, Since 1998, the Perkins has grown to become one of the nation’s leading adult medical research centres, where a close-knit teams of more than 450 research and trial staff work together to defeat the major diseases that impact our community.

If you missed the event, you can still help by visiting https://lnkd.in/gyCH4zQ.

Finishing on the hallowed turf and shown on the big screen. A great day out and for such a good cause.
Our team including Darren Everett, Graham Strydom, Nino Gonzales, and supported by Swity Patal (and her baby bump) aimed to help raise awareness for the amazing work The Harry Perkins Foundation are embarking on.
Thanks to the Perth team, our customers and all who contributed to fundraising or supporting on the day.

Great Big Thank You – The Smith Family

  • October 3, 2019
  • by Nicole Bailey

We are really proud of the CSR initiatives we get behind here at Enable, and none more so that The Smith Family.

At Enable, we are focused on investing in a child’s education, helping them break the cycle of disadvantage. That’s why Enable partners with The Smith Family.
By giving young Australians the extra support they need to fully participate in their education, we can prevent them from experiencing a lifetime of poverty.  We love working with The Smith Family towards our shared vision of a better future for young Australians in need.

This year we were invited to attend the “Great Big Thank You” event, where The Smith Family celebrate the organisations that support them throughout the year. Organisations just like Enable Professional Service.

The Smith Family like to show their supporters how their generosity and support makes a lasting difference to the lives of young Australians living in disadvantage. Because of the support, these little heroes can realise their potential and create better futures for themselves.

Our Perth Enabler Darren Everett attended, Joined The Smith Family CEO, Dr Lisa O’Brien, and Smith Family ambassador and 2019 Australian of the Year, Dr Craig Challen SC OAM. Craig was part of the international team that helped rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave in Thailand in 2018.

Darren left feeling inspired by the event even saying, “WOW, what an inspiring event. Youth are our most valuable resource, and we need to nurture them.  It’s our job to break the cycle and make sure they are successful, I couldn’t be prouder of the support that Enable are able to provide to the next generation.”

Dreamworld Wildlife Fund

At Enable, the main thing for our CSR team is to further develop our program by bedding in major partnerships across all of the countries, and focus on engagement in the offices.

We are pleased to announce they are supporting the Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation.

ABOUT DREAMWORLD WILDLIFE FOUNDATION

Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation (DWF) supports conservation, research and education in the wild.

Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation (DWF) was established in 2012 to provide support, practical assistance and funding for wildlife conservation initiatives, particularly the ecology of threatened and endangered species. DWF support direct conservation efforts, relevant research, public education, advocacy and co-operation with like-minded organisations and regulatory authorities to protect wildlife.

DWF is the largest zoological donor to tiger conservation globally. Through their relationships with other conservation charities, they protect tigers in the wild through education, anti-poaching and community engagement initiatives.

Since being established in 2012, DWF has generously received public donations of over $2 million. These donations are largely linked to activities within Dreamworld Theme Park from royalties on merchandise sales and wildlife activities, supplemented by bequests and donations made online and in-park. DWF also receives funds from external partners, such as international zoos and now Enable Professional Services

For more visit – https://www.dwf.com.au/

At this years APJ conference, we provided the DWF with a $5000 cheque to continue their important conservation work. Our CSR Lead, Alison Lane, presented the giant cheque ( and the real one) to the animal handlers and our surprise guest Kimberley the Koala.

CSR in Hong Kong

  • September 24, 2019September 24, 2019
  • by Mun Law

After weeks of preparation and negotiation, the first CSR program is launched in Hong Kong! Enablers in Hong Kong are so excited about it and looking forward to all the activities that are being arranged.

We are so delighted to have found the social enterprise Elite Thai Boxing and Fitness to arrange the training with the theme – well-being for Enablers!

Most important of all, giving back to society and nurturing the youth.

Elite Thai Boxing and Fitness have a partnership with multiple NGOs including the Society for the AID and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers, Small Group Home of International Social Service, the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, etc.  Over 10 marginal youths invited by the NGOs have successfully completed the structural training programme provided by Elite Boxing and Fitness and become qualified Thai boxing and fitness Teaching Assistant equipped with martial arts skills and ethics.

On this day, we were welcomed by the “Principal Coach” and two teaching assistants to engage in a meaningful training class. We enjoyed the intensive fitness training and Thai boxing techniques like fighting stance and footwork; fist, elbow, knee and kick techniques, but most important of all, giving back to society and nurturing the youth.

Food Bank Fareshare

  • September 20, 2019September 23, 2019
  • by Nicole Bailey

This morning the Queensland team had a chance to come down to the Fareshare kitchen to prepare meals for those who are in a food stress situation.

This is, of course, homeless people but also normal families with the income-earner going through illness or financial difficulties. So far we have packed, sealed and deployed 450 meals with more than double to go.

Alison Lane, CSR lead at Enable Professional Services said,

I’m always looking for meaningful events for our people to participate in.

I’m proud that Enable prioritises it’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, as we recognise how important it is for our people to feel engaged not only within our organisation but within our community.

This morning I took my team out of the office and down to FareShare at Foodbank Australia to prepare meals for those in a food-stress situation. Pretty powerful stuff hearing about the great work they do with the staggering amount of unnecessary wastage that’s happening every day in this great country of ours.

We packaged 2784 meals in a 3.5-hour session this morning, it was a great team-building exercise that makes a real difference to struggling families. I highly recommend Foodbank for a CSR team building event.”

Great work team.
